Epic Expands Market Dominance in U.S. Hospital EHR Arena

Epic Systems Corporation has solidified its status as the leader in the U.S. hospital EHR market, making considerable strides against Oracle Health in 2025. Epic increased its market share to 42.3%, up from 39.1% in the prior year, by adding 176 hospitals with 29,399 beds. This expansion confirms Epic’s stronghold in the acute care EHR segment, consistently attracting large health systems to its platform. Epic’s success is largely attributed to its Community Connect solution, which remains appealing to smaller hospitals. Data reveals that Epic dominated EHR decisions in 2025, securing 70% of all hospital transitions, thanks to its stability and customer service excellence. Oracle Health, post-Cerner acquisition, faced a decline, losing 74 hospitals and 17,232 beds, and seeing a market share drop to 22.9%. Despite technological advancements, skepticism around Oracle’s long-term partner viability persists.

Meditech, another key player, saw its share fall to 14.8%, primarily due to shifts toward Epic. However, over half of its legacy clients embraced the Expanse platform, showcasing assured trust. TruBridge experienced losses but saw customer satisfaction improvements through partnerships. Other vendors like Altera Digital Health focused on technology upgrades without gaining new contracts. The U.S. hospital EHR landscape in 2025 highlights the importance of vendor partnerships and reliability in shaping market dynamics, with Epic’s dominance underscoring the value of trust and effective customer relations. Competitors face the challenge of refining strategies to regain ground in a constantly evolving healthcare environment.
